Hi, I'm Deanna!

(FDN-P, CPT, CES)

In Highschool I felt a burning passion for holistic health, which led me to pursue Fitness and Health Promotion in college. I continued my education to become a personal trainer, corrective exercise specialist, and nutritionist working in group fitness and 1-on-1 training. I kept seeing people around me suffer with chronic health issues that went far beyond basic nutrition and exercise. I knew there was something missing, which led me to explore other career options, leading me to become

a Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner.

After a few months of traveling post-grad,

I created my own health coaching business to help people out of the never-ending cycle of pesky symptoms that won't go away, with no real answers. I believe from science-backed research that the majority of chronic health issues are a result of man-made actions, which means- it can be preventable! This is something the education system has failed us on, which is why I emphasize a huge education component in my health rebuilding programs.

I practice what I preach- a lifestyle that doesn't feel like a chore or Bootcamp! FUNctnl emphasizes fun, because that is what life and your health journey should be. As a society, we have fallen away from the basics, but once you nail that down, the rest falls into place. You don't know what you're missing out on!

My Health Journey:

I got diagnosed with scoliosis at 13 years old, a curvature in the spine that progressed throughout the years. I have invested tens of thousand dollars of my own money over the years on treatment through chiropractors, physiotherapists, acupuncture, massage therapist, osteopaths. I felt defeated, hopeless, and scared for the future. I was told by doctors not to lift heavy, that I may have problems throughout pregnancy and delivering a child, and I may have nerve issues in the future affecting all areas of my health. Despite exhausting all options presented to me, my scoliosis has continued to get worse, leading me to invest in a back brace and an intense care program. I had to do my own research to look further, and I also gained the confidence to lift heavy in the gym and improve my strength, squatting over 240lbs, something I never thought would be possible with scoliosis - and my body has never felt better. Sometimes you have to trust your instincts and advocate for yourself when it comes to your health.

Your body does a great job at letting you know what is working and what is not.
